I often get the message when I plug in my phone in my car or my wife's car that to gain proper charging I should use the charger that came with the phone. No problem at home but for in car solution I am looking at the

    BlackBerry Premium 1.8A Micro-USB In-Vehicle Charger

Will this give me timely charging for my Z30 while on the go?

Also is it safe to use with my wife's Q10?

Regarding the wall charger that came with my Z30. My wife occasionally plugs her q10 into that charger. Is there any risk to damaging her device by doing so? I ask because I know the bigger Z30 battery is larger, requiring the extra charging power and I just don't want to damage my wife's phone.

FYI: the other day I ran out of juice while visiting my sister. I used her Samsung micro USB charger to charge up my Z30 and couldn't believe how FAST the device charged compared to the charger that shipped with my z30. Can anyone think of why? She has a galaxy 3. Is that charger safe for my battery? I might consider it.

In any event I just really want to make sure that the car charger mentioned above will satisfy my needs and won't harm my wife's q10 and want to ensure that plugging her device into my z30 wall charger won't damage her device.

Thank you all in advance for taking the time to reply. I'm not too tech savvy when it comes to amps voltage battery sizes specs etc.

...the BB in-car charger is most definitely fine to use with your Z30 and your wife's Q10....i use a BB in-car charger myself and it works and charges my Z30 and S3 quite fine...been using it for more almost a year with no problem

Yes the BlackBerry Premium In-Car Charger is perfect for your Z30, Q10, any other BB10, any legacy BBOS device with micro USB port, and any other device that charges with micro USB.
It's also great for anything else like iOS stuff if you have an adapter cable to USB as the charger has a second open USB 2.0 charging slot.

It's all about the output listed, in A or mA. Any BB brand charger, wall or car, will list output right on the device. For other brands, they hopefully at least have a model number that you can google to find out the output.
BB10 devices require a charger with a minimum output of 750mA. (i.e. 0.75A) So the premium car charger and wall charger with their 1.8A outputs offer much quicker charging.

It's hard to comment about the Samsung charger you mentioned. I don't know if it came out of the box, if different carriers release with different chargers, etc. Check it out yourself and google the model number that should be somewhere on it if it doesn't display the output.

I think the CB Canada store has the Premium (wall) Charger for $19.95 too iirc, and/or buy one get one free. That is also 1.8A and the same charger that comes with the PlayBook incidentally. I have 3-4 of these at home and use them instead of what comes in the box. My original Z30 charger is at my office desk as a spare, although I rarely need it.

Also check NCIX.ca for good deals sometimes on BB accessories. Search the model number of the charger and then also search BB10 as they have some items listed twice with different prices. The second price is meant for business orders, but nothing stops you from ordering one at the lower price. I think my Premium In-Car Charger was around $16 from them, but I did pick up in-store and I'm not sure if shipping would have cost anything.

Hope that all made sense and helped!

Thanks for answering my questions. I've ordered two chargers

Also took advantage of the 2 for 1 sake and bought two 1.8 MA wall chargers with the 1m USB chord. So four chargers around the house now in areas we hang out without everyone competing for the fastest one or the one with the longest USB... great for while on the sofa haha

    Thanks again everyone.

I don't want to be frying batteries which is why I asked in the first place.

    Cheers and thanks again.
