I am longtime BB owner but I need to use Android or App Store app for my bank. How can I do this?

I am currently using a Z10 running 10.2.1 because Tmobile USA wont' upgrade to the latest version. My bank, USAA uses Android or Iphone apps like most other businesses (not Amazon or Windows apps, certainly not BB World). I need to use their app to do mobile banking as the don't have branches in the traditional sense, especially to deposit checks. I'm not a tech person and don't feel like "side-loading" apps that aren't designed for the phone I'm using. I love BB10 and have owned a RIM phone since early curves. I don't know what else to do other than moving away from BB, especially since it's over 2.5 years old and not being updated software wise. I would like to hear any SERIOUS options, as well as suggestions. Please don't go off on me, I'm not a kid and don't have time for the venom.Thank you.

Well if you need the apps, something will have to give. Btw, Android apps ARE designed to run on your device.

You either need to:

sideload Snap,

install the Amazon appstore (which doesn't require sideloading, but they may not have the app you need),

try and find your app at apkmirror and install it directly,

or update to 10.3.2 yourself and install Cobalt's modified Google Play Store.

Thanks, but I don't want to sideload anything. Amazon isn't an option as they dont' have the app I need. I don't feel comfortable modifying my phone outside of carrier support. I guess I don't have any options other than joining the masses. This was coming I guess. The last time I had a conversation with someone on BBM was over a year ago.

Yes. This would be a similar solution to looking for the app directly on apkmirror.

If you don't want to install an unofficial appstore on your device, go here:

Search for your app. Download and install it - right from your device.

I have snap and just did a search and found it.

It's 41mb or so

I am a tech guy, and think it's so easy, but at the same time respect others being less techy.

The other option is try and wait a bit more for the BlackBerry android slider. If you are gonna go android, may as well be a BlackBerry droid

Also, I went to the Usaa website, scrolled to the bottom and hit 'go mobile' and amazon app store is an option

So, I think if you install that route through their website it should be fine

I also use USAA services. I just bookmark the website. Works great

Vetteman thanks i really feel stupid. I've been using my scanner at home for so long I never explored the mobile website fully... this is a great option for me. Thanks everyone...

Sorry...that's supposed to be ... 1Mobile Market..easy as 123 to install check it out on the web,lol

Side loading an app doesn't void your warranty or anything like that, as far as I know.

I use the capital one app. Installed from snap, and it works great
