If you haven'y found it already, try Sachesi. http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...taller-825409/
There is a Linux-specific version that works to side load and more.
Thanks for the info. Tried it but no info on how to get it running. Also it may appear to only work with usb

Yes, I should have mentioned that you have to plug in via usb. With Sachesi open, select the "Install" tab. You can then just drag & drop the Snap bar file into the window and the bar is installed.

Note that you do have to be on OS 10.2.1.1925 (software version 10.2.1.537). Once Gdrive is installed, you have to login with your Gmail credentials.

Some people here have figured out how to run almost any app which "requires" Google Play Services / Accounts. Isn't that right Cobalt232?

Some Google-related apps may not function, others do. Grove, for instance works just fine. The "how to" discusses this. How to install an Android app (APK) to a BlackBerry | CrackBerry.com

But that's not the topic of this thread - this is about the installer.

My situation is somewhat hopeless with BB I think. Just as Sachesi can't communicate with my Z10, Snap Installer is unable to detect the phone too.

I tried every imaginable USB ports, cables, device PW is correct, IP is correct, developer mode is correctly set. I hate that 10.2.1 is trying to install BBLink onto my computer, so I have to dismiss it every time. Is there a config for XP SP3 and/or Eset Smart Security to enable a smooth connection?

Oh, BTW, my computer recognizes the Z10 in developer mode as a RIM Playbook USB Device DVD/CD-ROM drive, with a Microsoft 5.1.2535.0 driver (2001.07.01.)...

    How can I actualize it?

The normal Snap installing process with the https://169.254.0.1 address refuses to load on my computer (Chrome/Opera/Opera Next/FF/IE8), so I'd like to find another solution with SI.

Hey, nice it worked for you! If you somehow find out what caused the problem and how you solved it would be nice if you could post the solution.

Enjoy Snap and please donate to James for his hard work.

That's correct. Apps that require Google Play can be patched and do work. Google+ has to be fixed though, it's not working yet.

Cobalt, the last thing I checked was the connection setting which was reset after the 10.2.1 update. I just switched back to Windows instead of Autodetect, and it voil, was perfect.

My script will install Snap on any OS version. But it doesn't make sense to run Snap on 10.1 as only OS 10.2.1 can install Android APK files without converting them to BAR.

any way to get this to work with linux? I have a vpn setup and I could allow peeps to use it for free to setup their friends devices. I hate being out in the wild and talking about snap, and showing people what it could do on their phones. while they have no clue how to sideload or do anything else. would be nice if they could just hand me their phone..

    i connect to linux vpn
    it runs your script

    voila
Guyzer... great post. There is already someone out there by the name of Yohanes who accomplished what you mentioned (sideloading bars over vpn). He recently closed down his site barinstall.com. If you're interested in making this a reality perhaps we can reach out to him for some guidance?

My vision is to have a site like "loadsnap.com" (or something like that) which gives you vpn credentials to enter (or even better some automated way of doing so), then a "install now" button with progress bar and detailed error messages that the end user can understand.

Also a very good way to get your device compromised because you have no idea what they are doing on the other side of that link.

I hope you are the trusting sort. I am not.

Good point, but of course the service is optional. Technically, we're all taking a risk when we enter our Google credentials into snap.

I just had to do the same thing, haven't been able to get the USB to recognize my device forever...it didn't matter until I wanted to side load snap. Of course, now I can do a full backup, which is nice.

For me, the key was changing the USB setting from auto detect to Windows as well. I'm on Windows 8.1, so I think this is a device problem, not a windows problem.
