I assume BB will get sued if they included this Google Play Services APK into their default OS build? Just thinking it would be so much easier if it was there already.

Pretty much.... OHA is how they will get Google services.
At this time, do you recommend patching apps with GMaps Patcher instead of Lucky Patcher? Please advise. Thank you.

This version can patch Apps depending on Google Play services and it can also patch Google Play services itself. GPlay Patcher is no longer required.
Changelog:
New: Merged code from GPlay Patcher into GMaps Patcher
New: Patcher now suggests patches to be applied
New: Simplified GUI with less confusing options to select
New: Patcher includes option to resize advertising banners to make them invisible

Here is the method how to patch Google Play services dependencies directly on your Blackberry device using Lucky Patcher from ChelpuS. No Desktop PC or Mac is needed for this procedure.
Features
Remove signature verification that causes error "Google Play is not supported on your device"
Support for Google Maps API v2 (provided by pre-patched Google Play services)
Since I installed Lucky Patcher, I keep getting "Google Play services has stopped". Most of my Google apps will also crash after being in for awhile after several of the pop-ups appear.
I've deleted LP but still happens, even after reboots

Sounds like something isn't quite right with your Google play services installation. Do you have cobalt's patched version installed? I usually get a google play services crash once upon launching an android app for the first time since a reboot, then it's fine after.

I've actually been doing some troubleshooting myself on this. Ever since installing LP I get google play services has stopped intermittently. Previously, I've only gotten that upon launching an android app the first time after reboot. The only difference being that I loaded Cobalts patched Google Play v5.0.84 rather that the patched v4.x.xx that I had running earlier with no issue. In other words, I had been running the same set up as you with Google Maps 6.14 and all without issue. I'm contemplating falling back to the way I had everything before. Maybe Google Play v5 is not for OS 10.2.1 afterall.... Thoughts??
You may be on to something there. Cobalt or Sally Mack, do you still have the earlier version?

Reading the above recent posts, I'm not sure what "problem" I should be having. Maybe it's because I'm not a "power" user?
My configuration:
Z10STL100-3/10.2.1.3253
Google Maps 8.2.0
Google Play services 5.0.89 (patched by GMaps Patcher 1.0, running on Windows XP)
Uber 3.7.2 and Yelp 5.12.2 patched by Lucky Patcher 4.4.4
