Cobalt, I Found out there is Google Play services v5.2.08. I patched it using Gmaps Patcher and it works without any problem. It has Fitness section which I don't remember if v5.0.89 had. See

I gotta stop testing for now, because all the patching and reinstalling put my battery down to 36% from 100% in three hours.

Slightly unrelated, but for those who stick to using older versions of maps so that you can remain logged in to your account while having cobalt's patched Google play services installed...

If you attempt to go into the location settings from Google maps with a Google play services apk higher than 4.x, you'll get a "Google play services required" error.

So I patched Google maps 6.14.5 with lucky patcher, and got rid of the error without any other noticeable side effects .
Could you please upload this patched maps apk?

I could... but considering that this only works with play services v6 (which still isn't working as well as we'd like), I'd advise against it. I suggest sticking to the unpatched version with play services 5.x or lower for now.

The thing is, I have one of the slowest Internet connection in the world, so I'm unable to upload my patched version. But I got the original apk from here. Just patch it using Gmaps Patcher.

Yup. Check out the first post, which gives you a patched play services apk, and the tool to patch the YouTube apk to get rid of that error.

For an even better experience (in my opinion), I'd recommend checking out fasttube on BlackBerry World here http://appworld.blackberry.com/webst...ntent/23064881

If you're looking to login to your account with the YouTube apk, you'll also require Google login services. There's a link in this thread somewhere around page 4 or 5.

You tube login doesn't work with the patched apk. Sorry.

So here we go with a first version...

The known limitations also apply for this version:
No account history available, therefore the new Play Games menu throws an error message (no crash).
I loaded this up and my casca run (native) isn't crashing anymore after extended use. I'm also not getting anymore play services has stopped responding messages. All apps that worked before still work.

The only app I still can't get maps to work on is my Disney experience, shows a blank map, however it is aware of my location, it chooses the park you are in when trying to get fast passes and check wait times.

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Sounds like you need to go into the settings and change the gsf id. Easiest way to get a gsf id is to install snap and login to your Google account. If you've already done so, you can find it in the snap settings menu.
I did change to my GSF ID and my login to no avail.

I then tried to change Locale to en and Country to US and still no go.

Do the other device settings need to change also?

This is where your problem lies. This doesn't seem to work on 10.2, because I am too and can't get this to work. I'm almost positive that all those who say it works are on 10.3.

I just have learned that I'm not the most talented Android developer on this planet

But anyways, here some development results from the last weekend:

    Play Store Downloader
    Google Play Store

The apps are both patched, so that a download can be initiated from Google Play store. So this means YES, the install button works now. If you activate autoinstall option in Play Store Downloader, you can install the app right from Google Play services. To run this, you must have Google Login services installed.
i've just discovered a bit of an annoying "bug" (not really a bug, but for our purposes it'd be nice if it behaved differently). If I patch an app, it won't display in the "my apps" section of google play store. Even more annoying is that if there is an update to the patched app, it won't register in google play store at all. For example, if i browse to a patched app I have installed that has an update, I won't have the option to update; it's only "open" or "uninstall".

I imagine play store verifies the signature, and if it doesn't match the original dev's, it doesn't consider it a "google play store" app - so no upgrade. So right now i'm using snap to check for updates, then play store downloader to download them without having to uninstall the app
