Did you try patching it? You can apply the instructions posted by spiculated which help me get Yelp to show map function here: http://forums.crackberry.com/android.../#post10093492

So here we go with the Windows version of GMaps patcher.

The patcher uses the same patching logic as the CMD version to patch Google Maps v1/v2 and Google Play. I reworked the entire patching procedure as I didn't want to use the CMD tools FART or SED. I tested this version with Windows 7 32 bit but it SHOULD work with any OS version.

Usage is simple: Drag & drop a file on the patcher or select a file in the fileselector. Then press the patch button. Patching may take a while, so be patient and wait until the patcher has finished it's job.

If rebuilding fails, you should try to disable decompilation of resources in the options menu (same as in the CMD version).

So good luck with this and report back any bugs.

Thanks for this GMAPS Patcher v0.1. I patched Vivino Wine Scanner v7.2.1 with it on my WinXP PC. The patched app runs ok. Maybe you could add a progress bar for the longer running operations?

    Awsome

One small issue so far: if the java is not installed on the path specified in the Options tab or is invalid, there is no check or message to inform that and every apk is considered as if it does not need patching ([Checking for Google dependencies]Nothing to patch.)

    Thanks for the feedback.

Here is a new version 0.2
    • Fix: Availability of Java is now verified and an error message will be displayed if the path is not valid
    • Fix: Patching of package fr.m6.m6replay-11 now works correctly (there is nothing to patch! The file that is found in CMD version doesn't contain any Google relevant Methods)
    • New: We now have a progress bar to indicate that the app did not freeze
    • New: In options, a new debug feature allows to keep processing folder and to monitor decompilation/building of apk

Download GMaps Patcher 0.2 (exe only)

Indeed, in Window Classic theme is not visible/animated, otherwise is OK.

On WinXP, I get message, "GMaps Patcher.exe is not a valid Win32 application."

Update: The executable runs ok now. I downloaded the .exe to my PC this time. Looks like there might be an issue with transfer of the .exe from Dropbox to my phone. It's the first time that has happened to me.

I get an error saying "folder/lib is misisng, can't continue.". Is this the java error and how do I remedy this?

**As a note, I moved my user folder from the OS drive when installing windows so it resides on it's own 1tb drive.

You probably download the Exe file only. Go back, download v.0.1, unzip it, then copy over the 0.2 Exe.

I'm using the google play services apk that cobalt has posted in the past and includes with his patcher.

I run maps 6.14.4.2, but it shouldn't make a difference. It should run even without maps installed.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure I had all the correct versions. I am still running his old google play services too with the same maps version.

Out of curiosity, has anyone else noticed diminished location tracking with some of the newer versions of apps? My yelp and transit apps won't find my location unless I open google maps as well. I first started noticing this a month or two ago, and it might coincide with the newer google play services releases we haven't been able to patch.

i tried to work this but was unsuccessful.

i tried the latest Beat the Traffic and Strava. Both are asking for Google Play Services at startup.

they patched fine and I installed the com.google.android.gms.apk in the output folder.
