Hey all!

I use Google Voice quite a bit and recently became irritated enough by the compose screen error that I decided to fix it. This APK has been modified to allow you to use the compose screen without crashing the app. I've seen no other places that need tweaking so for now, this is all that's been changed.

That being said, this version of Google Voice doesn't need to framework services to login, so it will function fine all on it's own. Notifications come through nicely showing text messages and such, overall it just works really well. This is based on version 0.4.2.54.

Load it using whatever method you like, APK and BAR (signed, no debug token needed at all) below.

Not much else to say, so give it a shot and report your findings back here!

That's what I just did. But I had to sideload that using a PC first.

You must have downloaded the BAR file, the APK can be directly loaded from your browser or file manager.

EDIT: Nevermind, I read your message wrong. You were stating that you needed to sideload the Mega Downloader before using it.

I also added a direct link to the OP for now to the APK so that others that have 1055 can just load a link and go. Hopefully someone will mirror it on a BB10 browser friendly site and i'll update the OP again.

When I click the direct apk file it saves as a bar file not apk.

Awesome... been looking for this for a long time. Everything fires up on the device with no problems.

But my question is, how are you able to make out calls? As well as, in the BB version of the app, you are able to select whether you are able to place a call using your GV number or your cellular number. Is this not functional in this app?

Thanks a bunch!! crashed once during initial setup but we're good now. everything works. i finally have calls going to my google voice vm again!

when i make calls via the app.. my google voice number doesnt come up. i still have to use GV via web browser to make calls with GV number.

Well it is a start but the address book integration does not seem to work. Maybe I am missing something? Without the address book I fail to see how useful this is.

It works better than Google voice. The contacts work. It is a little laggy though. Also, this app is running on borrowed time. Hopefully we can get Google Voice working before they time bomb API support for Google Voice.

I've been using the Google voice web app for a while. Works for me as I can take and receive calls and texts.

Not sure if I need the app so I'm curious, what else does the app help you do with Google voice?

Nope, I've been using it since 10.1.0.4xxx but just recently modified it so you could compose texts. Looks like to make outgoing calls it wants to hook into the phone portion of the device.

Since it's an Android app, that portion might not be so easy to get working...
