This version of Blackberry Google ID can't be updated. Remove and install new. Later updates will work again.

Maybe change the version internally to old one so people will have to delete the old one first

I updated the Blackberry Google ID file. Still the same version and the same download location.

During update from 2.2 to 2.3 I changed a field from dateformat (string) to miliseconds (long) and used the same settings store name. So after an update, it tried to fetch a long value from a string field. That caused the crash.

But there is something that concernes me more:

It looks like the Google login problem [403 Forbidden] is a real issue now I've read in other threads that people are having trouble logging in to Snap. The same also occours with Blackberry Google ID. Therefore I implemented a new fix in this new version. If you leave the password field BLANK in the Authenticate activity, the app will try to use your Google login token.

I'm interested to know, if this works for you. Please report back.

To get the new fixes, just redownload the Blackberry Google ID 2.3 app from post 1.

I assume if all is well on the old 2.3 build, there is no need to update?

If everything's works, there no need to update. Just remember to always clear Play Store cache after you received a new GSF ID. This will force Play Store to update the token in its local settings.

If you don't clear the cache, you won't see your device on the Play Store website and maybe your installed apps list will be empty.

Personally, I just quickly delete and reinstall the Play Store.

Same effect. May be faster than clearing cache. If you don't want to reinstall:

Blackberry settings -> App Manager -> Device Monitor -> Storage -> Play Store -> clear data.

Hi, I have the BlackBerry Google ID version 2.2...just wondering is there any critical reason to update it to version 2.3. Appreciate your kind response, please as I am not too savvy.

    Hello Cobalt,
I just downloaded a few minutes ago the latest versions from the first page..
Google Account Manager (com.google.android.gsf.login-v4.3.2) seems to fail,
If I open Google ID, it gives me: inscription "unavailable" & Android GSF ID "unavailable"
Where do you think the problem is?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

    BETA TESTERS WANTED

I was quite surprised to see that the Google Account app for Android 4.4.4 seems to work on Android 4.3, but after looking at the system requirements it made sense. The app is build for API level 17, which is Android 4.2.2, so it should run on our Android runtime. I patched the app, and here it is, ready for a public beta.

Together with the new Google Account app, I also built a new version of Blackberry Google ID (v2.4). This version does no longer have a login screen. You just run the app, hit register and then BBGID will fetch the token based on your system account and login your device. Very simple. Of course, you must first add a system account with the Google Account app.

If you want to be one of the first to try this, you can download the new apps here:

    Google Account Manager 4.4.4
    http://homepage.bluewin.ch/simonsmit...4.4-cobalt.apk

    Blackberry Google ID 2.4
    http://homepage.bluewin.ch/simonsmit...ogleid-2.4.apk

I would be happy to get feedback if this works for you or if more fixing is required.

And maybe a last word: I suggest to remove the old versions before installing the new ones. Especially the Google Account app could produce unpredictable results if it is updated.

Just a reminder, you need to re-whitelist all of your patched apps (with the non-patched versions of course) again after installing a new Google ID apk. At least I seem to have to.

Hi Cobalt, I was able to install n register Google play services successfully but when I try to install Google Keep or youtube, for that matter any Google app, I get error that Google play services are not installed on my phone. It then takes me to Google play services download page. Am I missing something?
