I have the original galaxy gear watch and can put a custom rom on it that is basically android. Will the Sony smartwatch Apps and patches work? Aren't they android as well? I love my smartwatch and know that android wear is likely never to work, but the Android rom might.

Rachael, have you made any headway with this? I too have the original Android Gear and have the null installed. I am able to connect to my BB10 only using Bluetooth, but it seems the only capability it has is to transfer files between the two devices. No calls, no notification, nothing else. I have tried the using the Gear Manager and it connects, but disconnects as soon as it tries to download the 19 files it requires.
