Have tried 6 so far and 2 of them were just crap that used built in hotspot settings.

I dont want to lose my unlimited data plan, but want to use it as a hotspot and dont feel I should have to pay $50+/mo and reduce self to 5gb limit....

I was lucky that I am with Three.co.uk or 3UK and when 3UK said that their data was unlimited.
That didn't just extend to the phone, it includes tethering/hotspot.

I have heard that this feature in 3UKs package has changed, but for me being a long time client, I was told I could resume my existing package when my upgrade is due.

Don't rush to find out the results before March 2015, but your welcome to ask what happens then.

I am in the US. I have unlimited data via AT&T but tethering/hotspot arent available unless I downgrade to a limited plan with at least a 5GB limit.

I asked if there was an app that actually works to use as a hotspot.

The Tether app used to work but they dont plan on updating it to work on BB10.

There is no BlackBerry apps for that (to the best of my knowledge) and the android apps don't have access to send out a signal so I don't think it's possible

I wish I could answer you, but my phone seems like it's dying on me.

My Hotspot has just died on me and I just looked into BBWApps to see if there were any apps and my phone won't screenshots now.

But yes, there is in BBWAPPS, there should also be also be apps in Amazon AppStore, which you may have to sideload
