I just received this email from Norton.

Android Users: Take Immediate Action to Secure Your Device.

Do you use an Android? device? Be aware that "Fake ID", a recently announced vulnerability, could allow malicious apps to access legitimate applications and steal your passwords or financial information by falsifying built-in security certificates.

Fake ID sneaks onto your Android smartphone or tablet through Trojan apps. It could affect millions?from everyone using Android version 2.1 up to 4.4.

Take immediate action to ensure your information remains secure.

Norton Mobile Security helps protect you from Fake ID and other dangerous vulnerabilities. If you already have the latest version, you can relax. You?ll remain unaffected and your ID is safe. For everyone else, download a free trial right now on the Google Play store.

I wouldn't worry about it, it doesn't matter that much if we get a virus designed for Android on our phones, it can't touch the BlackBerry OS

It's a sales pitch based on fear mongering. If they had sent out an advisory that was more informational than marketing I would feel differently about it.

Maybe, maybe not. I've been with Norton for years now and I don't get any marketing email from them.
