I have an app that uses accelerometer to know when to turn on an app on an android device. If someone downloads that using current methods of snap or amazon my testing has shown it does not work on a BB.

So my question is what is required to allow the app to use the BB motion detection or activity recognition so people can use this app on a BB?

In other words do I have to create a native app or is there a different way to use my current app?

What's the name of the app? And if you got it from amazon then there wouldn't be any google play service requests. So chances are it's not working because it was made for an Android device, not an Android emulator.

The opening post of the thread is self-explanatory, I suppose.

Please install the patched GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES which works on BlackBerry 10 OS.

Not really, it doesn't say the app name and they say from the Amazon store which wouldn't require play services.

I believe the OP is a developer - he is saying when people download his app from Snap or Amazon it does not work.

First of all, you will have to remove Google Play services from your app - they are not supported by the BB10 Android Runtime.

Secondly, check the list of APIs that are not supported by the BB10 Android Runtime: Unsupported APIs for Jelly Bean (10.2.1 or later) - Runtime for Android apps - BlackBerry Developer , and make sure your app is not using any of those.

If you will not manage to modify your Android app so it can work well within these BB10 Android Runtime constraints, going native will be the way to go.
