YEs, it will charge.. just slower is all...
They sell charger adapters too. Where you can plug in the USB into the adapter and plug the adapter into an AC outlet. Also, if you plan on using a laptop, some don't allow charging due to their power sources.
thanks, that's what I thought, and what I told my wife, but like to hear the confirmation from others.
I think he's trying to do it with his usb alone, so he doesn't need to find any other equipment anywhere else...
Just takes longer to charge off USB...
He didn't mention if he was going to use a desktop at his destination and I didn't know if he planned on taking a laptop. Some do not allow USB charging even when plugged into an AC outlet.
Just curious now.. some what don't all USB charging even when plugged into a AC outlet...?
I have a laptop. In Houston, heading for Pittsburgh, would really hate to have to go out in that 20 degree weather!
as long as you have a PC to plug your USS into, you should be fine. thats how i charge mine all the time.
...Laptop's
If the USB port doesn't have enough power.. your right...
But most "modern" laptops will have enough juice to charge...
Sorry for getting off topic OP.
Some laptops disable this feature so the power source dosen't overheat. I believe docking stations are an exception.
It will charge but it usually takes twice as long. This is due to the fact that when charging through a USB port it trickle charges. This is because a USB port can't supply as much power as an elictrical socket. This also keeps the USB port from burning out.
guess I'll find out for sure tomorrow morning. batt is at 85%, and turned off. I'll let ya'll know if it works. also, don't see what diff a docking station would make, the power source is the same as using the cord.
My docking station has it's own power source. Good luck...
Yes, it will charge via the USB.
Ya sorry for OT...
of the 5 laptop here... macs and Dell.s and a Sony... All are charging off the USB's... Got me all curious now on what laptops disable this... From a IT guys point of view for future tech. Ref.
yes but the power source is the same as the cord. It's a transformer and rectifier to convert to a DC voltage.mine says @ 4.625 amps
confirmed, at the hotel, charging for an hour, went from 50 to 75%. have a Dell laptop
