Why does BlackBerry uses the 2.5mm plug or jack for earphones?
Almost every other (smart)phone and mp3/4 use 3.5mm and are therefore more commonly available in shops.

I was told NOT to use sony earphones or any other non-BB ear/headphone.
Anyone a suggestion on what to use as I have 2GB of music to listen to now?

    ----

And no I will not settle for a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter!

Settling for the 2.5 to 3.5 adapter is about the only choice unless you use a Bluetooth headphone device. And not any adapter will work... only a few seem to have the right connectivity to give you full stereo.

I've wondered about the 3.5 jack as well..

    1. Hard to find "wired" headset...
    2. Music is awesome!
-sounds as good or better than my sattelite radio from XM.
    3. Even with an adapter call/answer buttons don't work on accesory.

    LOL @ "the stupid BlackBerry"

    Thx for all yr answers

Guess I will buy the original blackberry headset somewhere online.

    @ Wilsopd

What do you mean? That music is better with 3.5 but then you can accept calls if you use an adapter?

I just got a pair of Sony wired stereo from Verizon (about $30) which have the 2.5 native but come with a 3.5 adapter. I was looking for something to leave at work. Their "wires" are in a braided cable which makes them more flexible. Come with 3 different "ear cups" for fit.
