Personally, I will be orderin the Otterbox as well, I am just waiting it out a little to see if I really think I need one. Very rarely have I used one on my 9550 or 9630 so I dont want to jump the gun, spend the money, and it sits like the rest of these cases do!

How does the silicone skin fit on your new 9650 compared to the 9630? I ordered the 9650 for my son which comes on Monday. My wife & I both have the 9630 (work phones). I went on VZW site today and ordered a pink skin for my wife and the black skin for my son's 9650. It's the same skin on the website and says it is compatible on 9630 & 9650.

The reason I ask is because I saw on another thread that the 9650 charging port is located differently than the 9630. Just wonder if that is gonna be an issue.

I cannot speak on this skins from verizon, but I know at Best Buy stores the newer skins are now packaged 9650/9630 as seen here

I ordered OtterBox Defender cases. I have them sitting on the dining room table waiting on my phones.
Use/used OtterBox for the 8330's & the phones are still in good shape

That looks just like the one my wife has now and she doesn't like it. She calls it the "flabby skin". I ordered it from Amazon for a couple of bucks. Guess you get what you pay for.

Otterbox commuter. LOVE it. Just the right amount of added protection without going up to the defender (which is pretty hefty). Smoother than just a silicone skin which never seems to slide in and out of the pocket without snagging...

Case Mate 9630 Gelli case in Purple.
Fits great even around the usb port and its a little firmer than a regular silicone case. Doesn't collect smutz like other silicone cases and it's girly, too

i ordered the otterbox commuter case a few weeks ago and now its sitting pretty on my bold. ive had plenty of otterbox cases as well as other name brand. otterbox by far is the best case ive ever had

I put my 9650 into an innocase intended for the 9630. Fits perfectly, except that the hole for the charging port is a little off. But still plugs in and charges. I think the otterbox is another great case, just seems a little bulkier.

Drea ~ I'm thinking of this one too because I don't like all the bulkiness of some of the cases out there. In your opinion, does this provide adequate protection of your phone?

No case at all, just a screen protector... Phone stays in my pocket... Never had a problem, and my personal opinion those big cases make the berry ugly...

Clever, clever. I think there is just no good way to actually answer that question so I'll leave it to imagination.

It fits perfectly and the only difference is that the charging port isn't in the center of the cutout...it's toward the top. I didn't have a problem charging it while in the skin though! If anything you can just move the skin..it's very squishy so you can slide it up and out of the way.

FYI, Verizon is supposed to give 10% or 15% off accessories if you buy them with a new device so you can always ask that they knock the price down a bit on the skin you ordered...even if you did order it separately!

And I can definitely say there is a difference between the skins Verizon offers and other brands. I got one from a stand that was a total piece of trash! The guy was charging $15 for it but I talked him down.... I realized how awful it was and threw it out.. The one from Verizon is much better! It doesn't slide around (unless you make it slide) or cover anything it's not supposed to and the phone is easy to grip rather than slippery like it can be when bare.
