Turn off automatic mass storage on the phone under Memory Card Options. Put it back on Prompt and you won't have this problem. When you want to use Mass Storage just hit "Y" when prompted on the phone after a plugin for sync.
BTW, I noticed that with the most recent OS version on the phone my wallpaper no longer dissapears off the phone when I'm in mass storage.
Yeah, but if you switch background a whole lot, it can get a little anoying moving things off and on the device memory... not only that, but it also eats memory on the phone. We all know how limited that is already.
