Well you might need the adapter, but as long as the charger will take 240V AC 50Hz, your charger will work in europe. Most chargers supplied in europe are universal input, 100-240V 50/60Hz, and probably the same all over the world, then they only need one charger

You don't need a whole new charger. Just get a adapter

if its a retail package then it should include the adapter, when i purchased mine it has an american, european and uk adapter, you just unclipped the one which was required and clipped the one you require.

ANY RIM charger will work 110 - 240 Volts. I travel to and from the US all the time and I use the same chargers (multiple-phones) in both countries all the time. My chargers are all the international types with interchangable adapters for various countries.

Blackberry phones bought in the US are usually supplied with US only adapters i.e. the plug connector is fixed and not interchangable.

Should you decide to buy a replacement power supply make sure that you buy a "Genuine BlackBerry 9700 Charger". I say thes because the 9700 requires more power than the USB power standard which is 0.5 Amps. The 9700 requires .065 Amps and some budget USB power adapters will not meet this power need.

If you buy on ebay, please look carefully at the photo of the adapter you are considering. It should look like the one you have but with UK and other plug adapters. I'm repeating myself here but what you buy must say that it is for an 8900/9700/9650.
