Yes it just needs to be in the correct format. As long as you can convert, you're good to go.
Try Mobiola Studio Pro. It can convert from one file format to another. I have used it put movies on my 9700.
If you install Media Manager along with desktop manager you will be able to. Install the version that came with your CD. Do not download the latest version it carshed on me on two different PCs. I had to uninstall and use the previous version. It worked like a charm.
