I had a 8330 and whatever picture was on the wallpaper was simply the picture and the icons over the picture. With the 9650 there is a transparent bar on the top and bottom essentially fading out half of your picture on the wallpaper. I called Verizon but I may as well be talking to a 3 year old with all they know about this phone. Do I just have to go out and download a theme or is there a fix to this?

that's the theme it comes with "Precision" is the name. If you want something different there are a ton of themes you can choose from.

This "bar" came about with the first os5.0 leaks.

Many themers have created themes without them, and there are a few stock looking ones.

If none of them fit your needs, or your looking for something custom there are a few here that do custom work for people.
