Hi. I have the 8900 and I figured out how to set ringtones for sms for each contact but for some reason, even tho I'm setting it, it won't work for mms! Anyone kno how to fix this? Thanks!

I have a 8530 and when i goto a contact and set the ringtone/sms tone it only plays a ringtone when they call. it plays default when they sms me any ideas how i get the ringtone that i set for calls to play when they sms me??

hey i had a text tone for my blackberry and then i did something and i cant fine it anymore and the tone is on beep!!!!??? what do i do to change it back and how can i find it!!!???

Alright this is what you do press the menu button>profiles>advanced>menu button>edit>then you can edit anything in there such as the sms mms any ringtones you wanna change then when you are done at the top there is name. give it a custom name since this is your custom ringtone selection for your ringers after that it will be saved into your profiles and bam your done!

It's much better to just go to Profiles > Set Ringtones/Alerts.

It changes the ringtone and vibration for each setting but keeps the volume the same.

Profiles should be an icon. Go through your icons and find it. Click it. then scroll down to advance. Then highlight the profile you want to edit and hit menu then edit. Then scroll to SMS and change the tune.

I have my son's cast off 8830 and it took forever for me to find this. All of the other suggestions didn't work. I finally was able to change my alert tone:

Press BB button -> Profiles -> Advanced -> Normal -> SMS text -> You can change all your setting for in and out of holster there.

It seems people were leaving out to select normal to get to the SMS selection.

The BB is VERY confusing ... If I set something and come back months later to change it, it takes a few times til the menu will come through the way it is supposed to.

I hope they fix this in the new Bold 9930 !

So I figured out how to set my sms and mms tones but when I get a text, the tone only plays for like 1-2 seconds. The tone I have is about 4 seconds long (it's Rue's four note tune from Hunger Games). Please help Thank you all in advance!

I just got a blackberry phone too, and i am having the same problem with changing my message tone! everytime i set it up when i get a text message it doesnt happen, i wanted to change to louder ringtone with vibration for messages because i dont here the message tone know, this phone is really confusing!!
