They are kept on the sd card.
(hope this is not hijacking)
Once ringtone is selected from the card for use, can the ringtone be removed from the card? That is, is it in some way now in internal memory or attached in some way?
if you remove it from the card, your device won't be able to play that tune anymore; if you have to remove it from the card, better make sure to leave a copy of it on the actual device memory
Just to add...
If you use a picture as a caller ID, once it is selected it does get moved to the device memory. So if you delete it from the media card it will still show up.
So the downside is, the more caller picture ID's you have the more device memory you use.
Fortunately the Contact ID database pic is a cropped thumbnail with much smaller file size than the original pic, so not as much of an impact on device memory... unless of course you're as popular as Pete with 1000's of contacts. :)
Thanks for the reply. Now, how does one move stuff to INTERNAL MEMORY. When I'm connected to the 8830 by usb, the SD card shows as another Drive but I do NOT see the BB Internal Memory as a Drive.
It appears there is no way to manage (copy/move) files from SD to Internal memory on the 8830, itself.
I was reluctant to install the Media Manager module of DesktopManager as it had all kinds of references to DRM in the license agreement. Is that necessary for Internal Memory access?
The only way I found to move things around on the device memory was to use the Roxio software that came with the DT Manager. And by "things" I mean pictures/mp3's that I loaded/took before I had a media card. Now I only use the BB in mass storage and use My Computer to handle files.
