Anyone bought a spare data cable yet for their Storm? Where did you purchase? The ones shown under Crackberry accessories don't look much like the OEM.

Yup at handheld.com for like 2 bucks. works like a charm.
I've used one I had bought from Amazon for my razor2. I think it was <$5, and it works fine with DM

I bought an adapter from Amazon that converts a mini usb to a micro usb... works like a charm, especially if you have lots of mini usb cables around.
fyi, I bought mine through verizion, and it was much more
I bought one from Monoprice since the .85 release came out while I'm away visiting family. Shipped it came out to less than $4 for a 3ft cable. Monoprice is great for all my cable needs. Virtually any type of cable you can think of, in several choices of length, and at dirt cheap prices. Good quality stuff too, sometimes even better than OEM or what you can find at discount retailers and big box electronics stores that costs several times more.
Do they also charge the phone?
definitely don't by from verizon - mine cost $19.99 -- apparently I got ripped off
You can also buy adapters like I did to convert your mini usb end to a micro usb. I bought a couple so I could convert my old BB cables over. Also the ones that I bought have a laynard on them so when it is detached and being used it is attached to the cable.
I am trying to remember where I bought it from. I think it was on Ebay or Amazon which may have shipped from MSG Digital.
I took one out of a replacement box they sent me and forgot to return it. So I got me a free one

This one looks like it will work. But, does anyone know if it will charge the phone too?
For only $0.98 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 3 ft USB A/male to Micro USB 5 pin male Cable | USB 2.0 Cable - Mini-B Type
I'll let you know when mine gets here. Should be tomorrow at the latest. I don't see why it wouldn't. All USB cables are capable of carrying like a 5V electrical charge. It's only at maybe 1-2 amps, maybe less, so there's not a lot of "oomph" behind it, but any USB cable that fits should be capable of charging the Storm.
Thanks. Please post back when you confirm this.
My Monoprice cable arrived in the mail today and it does indeed fit into the slot on the phone, and seems to function exactly as the OEM data cable. Charging appears to work, and I am updating my phone to .85 with it as I write this.
So if you're looking for an inexpensive replacement cable, the one linked to in this topic from Monoprice works quite well.
+1. I buy ALL my cables for anything on monoprice.com
This is where I got my 2 extra cords for $5+ with shipping and handling. They work great, I buy all HDMI and A/V wires from monoprice.com.

this is something i purchased not too long ago. basically if you have this on you, you can charge almost anywhere you have a power source. in your car? car charger. at home? wall charger. at work? USB charger. i know most of us have computers at work and home so its almost necessary to have a second charger. this solved all of my problems and i never have to worry about the radio shutting off due to low batteries anymore.
