i think the PB needs more abilities to customize your wallpaper because when i set pictures as wallpaper they do not end up scaled to the right dimensions.Perhaps a 'fit to screen' option would work nicely,like a desktop computer has.This really bugs me.

Yup. pictures do not re-size. Have to save them in the correct size if they are too big.

all wallpapers for the playbook on crackberry site are 1024x600, wtf is up with that? Will they change them to 1024x1024 so they display properly?

I think OP is talking about picture you take with the Playbook. I have taken some and noticed when you set is as wallpaper, the Playbook automatically zooms in the picture then sets it as the wall paper.

Would be nice if it kept the original size.

i took a screen capture of the demo video and used one for wall paper. it sized perfectly.

saved an image off of the internet and then set it as my wallpaper, and the wallpaper shows only the center of the picture.

I have a picture I downloaded when I view it in pictures it fits screen perfect when I set it a wallpaper it blows up and is distorted! What do I need to do?

As noted, make sure that that picture is 1024x1024.

The 1024x1024 is a requirement to accommodate portrait mode as well as landscape mode without scaling and squishing.

Unless there is some unwritten rule about "borrowing" from other platforms, I wouldn't stress over the wallpaper for PlayBook. The recommended size is 1024x1024. That just happens to be the same size most websites offer for ipad wallpapers.

As for the wallpaper zooming in problem, it has to do with the fact that the wallpaper has to be compatible in both portrait and landscape mode, 1024x600 and 600x1024, so 1024x1024 works best.
