So I just received my defender for the 9700 and I love it aside from the plastic keyboard overlay. Does anyone else that owns one of these not use that piece?
the case for the 9700 already has a built in screen protector with the case which is awesome because I didn't have to sit there and try and put it on without bubbles for an hour
Ah, the irony! I wanted the keyboard membrane to use with my Commuter case for my 9700 (I bought it before the Defender was released). I emailed OtterBox, hoping to purchase one. They were kind enough to respond, but said it would only work with the Defender...so no dice. Short of buying a new case, I don't know what to do about it (other than getting over it). And so it doesn't appear that I am totally hijacking your thread: with my 8310, I did use the membrane, but not initially. It did take a bit of adjustment after having naked keys. You'd be amazed at how much dust it keeps out of things, plus it protects the keyboard from nicks and scratches. Yes, I know I'm a bit OCD about my BlackBerry.
I had it on my 8800 and I never had issues with it. I used wearing rubber gloves and it always worked well and my 8800 looked new after a year and I am a mechanic.
