I'm new to my BB (bought July 1) but I have become quickly addicted! My question is: is there a difference between the wallpapers I see here and my downloading a photo of my own to use as a background? Is it just a question of terminology? Thanks, I'm really learning alot here!
No there is no diff. Some of the more popular wallpapers are highquality images and show up great on say a bold, but if you prefer your own photos that's great, whatever makes your bb best for you

Part of the difference will be ratio/resolution/size. If you get a 1280x800 resolution picture, it's gonna be a HUGE file size on your phone, and probably look funny too.
When you find a pic you like (for instance, in Google Images or something), save it, and then upload using the crackberry wallpaper maker, chose the correct ratio size, and then upload to the site to help contribute to the library of images.
