im a newbie, i too just bought one for my 8310. But I was only able to format upto 4gb? I'm guessing that I have to upgrade my OS to 4,5 first, but if I do that, what are the features that I loose? any themes?

yea ima newb also....I was told by the sprint dood that my curve was only compatable with a 4gig at most, so dont bother to get the 8gig....what a waste...but yea if someone can tell me I would greatly appreciate it...I NEEED the 8gig so bad....ROFL...but yea anywayz....do you have to up the OS b4 u can use the 8 gig.? any response would help would OWN...thanx
I have a no tech background. Can I use a 8GB on a 8830 running 4.2.2.148? I have 17915739 bytes available. Could/would some explain what that means in a none tech answer?

Short answer, I think you need to update your OS for an 8GB card to work with your phone, although I'm not 100% certain on that.
The 17915739 bytes that you show are device memory, and are independent of storage, which is what your card would be.
