SanDisk 16GB microSD cards have finally begun to trickle onto the market, but not yet officially released by SanDisk, likely because they want them fully distributed and ready for immediate purchase before announcement.

but some retailers have begun to list and deliver the cards. they are a full 16GB with a class 4 speed rating in MicroSDHC format. two places that are shipping right now:

SanDisk 16GB microSDHC Memory Card : SanDisk 16GB micro SD

both are retailing them around 46 british pounds, or $90 USD. i saw one listing on ebay for around the same price: http://cgi.ebay.com/16GB-SANDISK-MICRO-SD-MEMORY-CARD-SDHC_W0QQitemZ190254524028QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item 190254524028&_trkparms=72%3A1205|39%3A1|66%3A2|65% 3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

but they're gradually making their way onto the market. you will need OS 4.5.0.81 or higher for compatibility with the 16GB cards.

I saw them too. Most of the offers I saw were for Pre-Order which I would not touch.

My guess is that the proces will drop dramatically in the next few months. I can also see the prices of 8Gb cards coming down too.

Just to reinforce what you said about OS versions, you are quite right. OS 4.5.0.81 is the lowest release required to use these cards on 8xxx series phones.

Of course if you own a Bold then your phone is supported too.

Engadget has details here SanDisk's 16GB microSDHC card slips into retail, T-Mobile's G1 - Engadget.

It just keeps getting better and better.

    Good spot oakie.
