mini usb is mini usb. I have used various brands of chargers on a variety of different phones with no difference in charging times. For instance my wifes razor charger had no problems with my Diamond. It is a specification that doesn't vary between manufactures. The only way you are going to even have a possibility of damaging something is by using a dirt cheap ebay china charger you bought for $.99.
Not true - as already said by cmhager2006 in this thread. Using a BB charger on a Motorola (specifically the older RAZR and maybe a KRZR, too) resulted in a fried phone. I did it twice by accident with both AC and DC car chargers. Motorolas definitely were not standard mini usb spec.
BB miniUSB will charge with virtually all miniUSB. Amps are key. The higher the Amps the faster the BB will charge. I tested up to 850 milliamps on a 8330 and it worked fine.
Had a Razr and also accidentally plugged in a BB mini USB. Got a message on screen "Unauthorized charger."
