    Hey Folks,

A few weeks ago i bought a 6gig media card for my blackberry curve. It's only showing total space of 1.6G which is extremely odd. I tried formatting it again and still nothing. Anyone have any idea?

Have you tried looking at it in a PC with a card reader?

I'd check that and see what it sees as well.. Card might be whacked...

unfortunately that didn't work! I returned the sd card and got a new one and everything looked fine. It showed up as 5.6GIG...then i chose to format it and it became 1.6GIG.

    This is rediculous....

Did you format it in the phone? Depending upon which version of the Operating System you have, the current maximum Media Card sizes are listed in the table below.

    * BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2GB
    * BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4GB
    * BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4GB
    * BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8GB

Note that 6Gb is not currently supported on your phone which runs 4.2.2.nnn.

I have read tha if you put your card into your PC and format it there as FAT32 then it will work in the phone but I currently only have a 2Gb card so can't check this.

When v4.5 if the OS is released then up to 8Gb cards are supported.

Thanks Pete6 ..that's exactly what i figured after i went back to the store to exchange my mem card. It first appeared as 5.6G but then quickly changed to 1.6G once i formatted it. I'll just keep it and wait for rogers to release an updated OS.

FYI i have 4.2.2 running so it's wierd that i don't at least get 4GIG but ahwell....

and i did try formatting on the comp with Fat32 and it never changed anything...

    Wow, that's wild.

I just put my Sandisk card in my 8830 without formatting it and just worked... Was surprised at that.
