Keyboard

I used a Freedom Universal Keyboard 2 with my 8830. It worked very well and was easy to type on, except for one or two odd key placements. Unfortunately when I upgraded to the Tour, the Freedom driver was not compatible. I and another user exchanged many emails with Freedom tech support, but were never able to get a driver that worked with the Tour. I have a Model G912 Universal Keyboard 2. If you get a newer model, you shouldn't have the driver incompatibility issue, but be sure you have the right to return the keyboard if it doesn't work.

Guys
I work at Freedom tech support.
we have had an email in to our company saying that crackberryshop have told him our keyboard will NOT work on a bold 9700
Our keyboards will work with all blackberrys...
you just have to make sure that you have the correct driver for your OS
also the services and input simulation /keystroke injection have to be changed, but the instructions tell you how to do that.
the original keyboard will work up to os 4.7
the universal 2 and the pro will work on 4.7 and upwards.

Checkout Trouble Ticket JZI-673757 that I opened August 9, 2009. At that time, the answer from Freedom was the problem was with the BlackBerry Bluetooth driver in the Tour OS 4.7.1.40. I haven't tried the keyboard since upgrading to 4.7.1.61. It's possible that fixed it.

Hi Jeff
any tickets older then 4 months without any activity get deleted.
we have no issues with any of our keyboards working on any blackberry so i guess your error was fixed by the update

Jeff
who do i contact as a matter of urgency to get this rectified ?
the crackberry shop gives the impression that our pro keyboard only works on very few models as a keyboard option is not listed in many of them

I just performed the OTA download of ver 2.2.6 of the driver for the Freedom Universal Keyboard 2 and installed it on my Verizon 9630 running OS 4.7.1.61. Unfortunately this latest version of the driver still has the same error that I reported under Trouble Ticket JZI-673757 last August. If I leave automatic reconnection enabled, and turn off the keyboard, I get a endless repeat of the error message "Connection to Freedom Keyboard Failed." That error message was the reason for the caveat I posted above. I'd have to say that the Universal Keyboard 2 is not compatible with the Tour running OS 4.7. However, the Universal Keyboard 2 is not the product you currently have in the CrackBerry store, so my problem is no reason for your current Pro keyboard to be labeled incompatible. I suspect all you need to do is contact the store and ask them to update the compatibility chart. Forums Moderators don't have any input into store operations or product compatibility charts, and aren't responsible for the technical accuracy of product descriptions.
EDIT: Just to be clear, the Universal Keyboard 2 works fine with the Tour when the keyboard is turned on. It is just the Automatic Reconnection function that doesn't work. If a user is willing to manually connect the keyboard each time he uses it, it will work fine.
