Since the torch doesn't come with a holster, I tried using my bold holster. However, I don't think the torch is recognizing when it is in the holdster (so vibrate only in holster isn't working etc.).
Has anyone figured out what holster to use that will be recognized?
is it the bold 9000 or the bold 9700?
the Bold 9000 holster is bigger and roomy for the 9800..
i'm using the Storm 2/storm 1 holster and everything is working just fine..
including the magnet.. turns it off and on
Rim released a holster made for the 9800 a few days ago. It can be found in the CrackBerry Store under 9800 Accessories. I ordered mine the day it came out and should see it tomorrow.

more importantly, does anyone know if you can get this without the belt clip? I love having the leather holster for my 9000 but the belt clip would just get in the way for me
Weezul, you need the Storm pocket pouch then. That's what I ordered. I loved the factory leather sleeves on all my older BBs because I put the phone in it then in my pocket, no belt clips in the way. I'm currently using a factory leather 8310 sleeve but the magnet doesn't line up which is why I ordered a Storm 2 leather sleeve/pocket pouch.

The Storm2 magnet won't line up either. The Storm2 magnet is about 2/3 down the device dead center whereas the 9800 is in the middle of the device off to the left a little. I've modified both a Storm2 holster and a 9000 holster to work with the 9800 holster profiles so far.

The pocket/pouch case for the 9800 will release on September 6th. This will be the actual case from BB. The part number is HDW-31013-001 - and it's real leather!
I suggest doing a Google search to get the best price possible. Many on-line retailers are doing to pre-order thing.
My Torch case works fine on this function but I have noticed that the portion of the touchscreen where connection can be accessedis highlighted but not selected.

thanks for the info, im in exactly the same mindset, pocket, pouch, phone. perfect combo! But, the link I've pasted is a link to the official pouch for the 9800. I'm totally ahead of myself anyway, have to wait for it to come to england> :'(
sorry, i did not know the cover without a clip was not called a holster.. my 9000 came with a pouch yet the os labels everything as the holster, excuse my ignorance :/
You might right. Holster and pouch might be inter-changeable. Maybe I am too old school since I am probably older than most of the posters on this device thread.
No offense but this thread is about the "in holster" function which is an option in the OS and applies to all ways of storing yer BB. There is no "in pouch" selection. The OP asked about any way to store it so the magnet works.
