I just picked up a new Torch today. I've have a Bold 9000 for a long time and am used to dropping it into my belt case or pouch and having it turn off and go into in-holster mode. When I put the Torch in my 9000 cases it doesn't seem to do anything. Did RIM remove the magnet sensor and no longer have an in-holster mode? Or is the sensor in a different place and it won't work with my Bold cases? Am I missing something? I don't like having to click the lock button on the top before dropping into the case.

easy way to test this is to set your case on a desk then slowly move the torch across the magnet/case to find where the sensor is. (i'd be shocked if they removed it.)
I haven't been able to get the magnet lock to work, and I've popped it in a 9700 and 9000 case. I've been using the lock button on the phone and the case to protect the screen!

i have the same problem/issue. i'm using a generic Case logic horizontal case for smartphones with a magnet and it's not doing anything.
if i try my 9000 on it.. the magnet of this case locks the screen
So since no one else can also seem to make it work, how do we know if it has a magnet sensor or not. I've tried moving the case all over the phone and it doesn't do anything. If they removed the in-holster magnet sensor that is a HUGE over site, in my opinion.
I did finally figure out where the sensor is. It seems to be smack dab in the middle of the back of the phone. All of the magnets for my old 9000 cases were at the bottom. I guess we will have to wait for new 9800 cases with the magnet in the correct place for the Torch. Another way for RIM to make more money.
I upgraded from a 9000 to the 9800 and I am using a pouch made for the 9000. It is a horizonal case and worked great with the 9000. To make it work with the 9800, I inserted a magnet from another Bold case into the front section of the pouch. I did this by using an Exacto knife to cut a slit in the fabric and sliding in the magnet such that it sits right in the middle of the pouch. Closed with superglue. Works like a charm. When I close the flap, the new magnet and the slit cannot be seen. Works for me!
