Hi guys, I am new to this forums, I am a regular at BB Hybrids though, I would like to share with you this really neat guy for those of you who miss the OS 5 ringtones.

Here is a guide I compiled to allow you to get the OS 5 ringtones on OS 6, whether it was a 9700, a 9780, or a 9800, the tricks works for all.

I personally think the OS 5 ringtones are much better.

    1. Download and install BBSAK 1.9.1

    2.Download the OS5 Ringtones file

    3. Run BBSAK, then go to MODIFY CODs, then to INSTALL COD(s)

    4. Browse to the location of the ringtone file you just downloaded, and select it, then wait for a few moments until it is copied to the phone.

The ringtone file will now be copied to your phone and you will have access to OS5 ringtones.

Thanks for the tip. Quite content with my ring tones though. Though I do "kinda" miss Sonar from OS 4.5

If you have any phone with OS 6 just use your phones browser to go to blackberry.com and when you scroll down towards the bottom there's a link to download the OS 5 sounds. Looks like blackberry was ahead of us on this one

    There is an easier method.

From your BlackBerry, go to this link: Loading ...

It will install the OS 5 ringtones over the air

Quickest way is to simple download them from the RIM website. It only takes a few minutes and you are done!

Okay, I downloaded it straight to my blackberry (OTA). Now, how do I access these ringtones? I went to profiles to look for them but they weren't available.

    Glad it worked for you.

To those, who like me, had their OS5 Tones downloaded to their media card, they SOUND MUCH BETTER loaded directly to your device. After downloading, you will then need to remove these OS5 Tones from your media card and reboot to get your device to look for them again.

The difference in sound quality is amazing, they sounds as good as these used to!

I never knew that they are loaded on the media card....how can I check to ensure they are on the phone?

    Thanks
