off topic, but can you records a show from your DVR box onto a separate DVD? I have Direct TV
I work for a cable company and as for using your phone to operate your dvr that is a no. however, if you have a slingbox, you can. if bb has an app for slingbox then yes, havent run into it in the field yet, kinda pricey.

Same way you would with any cable provider. Buy a dvd recorder, hook the outputs of your dvr to the inputs of your dvd recorder, hit play on the dvr and record on the dvd recorder.
