My satellite receiver has a USB port, I record directly on to a USB stick. I want to be able to convert those files on to a memory card for my 8900.
How do I determine what format they are being recorded in, the how do I make them usable on my BB?

On a windoze pc, go to start>control panel>folder options>view and uncheck "hide extensions for known file types", now with the memory stick plugged in you will see the format they are saved in.
For converting, there's a ton of em, but the 2 freebies that I know will work, are super and media manager in desktop manager.

I did that, now I see when I hit properties it says it is a TRP file, is that correct? I mean, is that how I find what kind of file it is, click on the saved show and hit properties?

Any chance of a link to a converter site?

    super settings

    Here's the settings I use.

    Default save location..
    C > program files > eright software > Super > output..

    Output container> 3gp(sony Ericsson)
    Output video codec> Mpeg4
    Output audio> AAC
    video scale> 320x240
    aspect> 4:3
    Frame sec> 15
    bitrate> 192
    option> high quality
    Sampling> 22050
    Channels> 2
    bitrate> 128
    audiostream> default

    or

    Frame/sec 25
    Video bitrate 1248 (1240)

    Audiobitrate 64 kbps
    Sampling freq 44100

The top set of settings renders a decent watchable movie at around 250m.
The bottom set renders a really nice flick, but around 700m for a full size movie.
