If I only had a need for it, I would get it. However, my 2GB card is plenty for me.

Agreed! But it's definately good to know there's options, and at a fair price.

The price for a 4 GB is between $60-$100 here lately. I wonder what that is going to mean for the 8 GB card from either Samsung or SanDisk.

Great price. Thanks for posting, Kasper. I thought for sure I would jump to higher storage. However, awhile back I bought the 2 GB and am not quite ready to give up my Video IPOD.
Given time everything drops in price

Will the BB (Curve in my case) take that 4g card without problems?
Not all electronics are compatible with the bigger memory sized cards.
But like other people here, for now my 2g is big enough!

On the BB spec, they say don't talk about any limit.
But I've seen about one BB that it does have a 32GB limit...

edit: it was about the 8820, that support microSDHC.... have to check if the curve support this too

Ok, the max SD size for 8800 and 8830 is 4GB.
I didn't find anything explicit about the 8300, but it's probably the same ?!
Anyway, I it's probably a software limit... unless the (micro)SDHC standard is hardwarely different from the (micro)SD... but I doubt so!
So we can hope that by the time 8GB microSDHC get cheaper, the 8300 and 8800/8830 will support them :P

Hey are programs saved to the memory card? If so before I buy a new one should/can I back up my stuff?

pnutbudrcherryberrysanwich, you'll get better responses if you post your question in a new thread rather than bumping an old, unrelated one.

The answer, is no, unfortunately. The media card can only be used for media file storage. Apps must run from device memory.

I was lucky enough to find an independent discount computer store selling 4GB Micro SD's for only 34 bucks .

I had no trouble at all loading video and music files onto the card nore did I have to format the card for it to work .

Does anyone have a 4g on his bb curve? i m going to get one later today , just wondering if the device will get a slower response or will be affected in anyway?

i guess it depends of the Os....

works fine, doesnt slow the bb at all.

does take a while for the BB to read and list the so ngs/album/artist, the first time you use the media player. after that its fine.

There is a note from the hardware techies on the Pinstack site saying that the BB sports only a 16-bit address cap and as such cannot address more than 2 Gb of memory. If that is true then even an sdhc card would access only the first two gig's, regardless of the cards capacity. It's worth checking into.

You must not load anything on your card. I have only 366 MB out of 4GB but then again I have 450 songs, pics and 4 full length movies on my sd card.
