trying to remove the ribbon cable for the screen that is cracked. it is attached to the back of the lcd screen. Whats the trick?

I don't know, but there's a thread with nice pictures showing a step-by-by replacement of the Screen/Digitizer.

Theres a metal part shaped like |) <---that near the bottom of the screen, it should be 'behind' where the buttons are. That metal piece comes out so you can remove the Digitizers ribbon without tearing it to ****.

EDIT: In that link above me, it's in the 5th picture down, on the right. You can see where there's the metal seperation.
