Went to Radio Shack and tested a bunch of cases/holsters to see what works best with the Torch 9800. The official BlackBerry case for the 8300 Curve (which also indicates 8310, 8320, 8330) works PERFECTLY. Snug fit, and the magnet/sensor puts the phone to sleep when holstered. (Note, the phone fits in like it should - face to the back of the holster, toward your body, and right side up). Here's a link to it on the Radio Shack site: BlackBerry Leather Case for the BlackBerry Curve - RadioShack.com (their item number 170-3501).
I also noticed that after being in the case and going to sleep, the phone has a serious lag. has anyone else experience this? my phone has froze up also after being in the case.
Mine does this as well.. Not sure if i wanna do a wipe or not.... some peeps said it works, others dont.. hate starting over after im already hooked up on my work server and all..

I haven't had any issues while in my case. That said, I did have a point earlier this week where my 9800 lagged (before I got the case). I didn't wipe, just did a reboot. Been fine since.
Took the sleeve from my Bold and had a local shoe repair shop simply add a row if sticthing for $2, about 1/8" in from the edge. This snugged up the fit for the Torch, works fine.
I had ordered the OEM pocket pouch for the Storm, which is virtually identical in size to the Torch, and it arrived last night. It fits (very snugly, as the pockets tend to do) and puts the Torch to sleep.
The problem? That snug fit of the pockets. It moves the slider screen up as you put the Torch away.
I'm not sure we're going to be seeing a pocket pouch for the Torch.
