I thought I read somewhere that size wise exact same as first Tour. I wonder if the cases for Tour will fit this new device or if new cases are needed.

Seems the Tour case will fit this new Bold. My Otterbox Commuter Case will stay with me, even after I sell my unlocked Tour for the new Bold.

If size is the same we hope it will. I haven't gotten a chance to see side button placement of the 9650. They could be off.

Well I did a little research and have found that the Tour and the new Bold arent exactly the same in dimensions. What this means for cases is unknown, there may be a tiny bit of a problem getting the Tour case to fit the new Bold, we will have to see.

According to RIM the new Bold has dimensions of
    Height 4.43 inches
    Width 2.40 inches
    Depth 0.56 inches
    BlackBerry - Bold Specs - Specifications for BlackBerry Bold 9650, 9700, 9000

and according to Verizon the Tour has these dimensions
    Height 4.40
    Width 2.40
    Depth 0.60
    https://smartphones.verizonwireless..../filters%7C1:3

The new Bold is slightly taller but isnt as thick (depth) as the Tour. The width is the same. Im not sure how much of a difference .03 inch would make on the height, only time will tell.

Actually if you look at the metric dimensions on the RIM site they are the same size for both phones:

    Height: (112mm)
    Width: (62mm)
    Depth: (14mm)

RIM's website says 4.4 inches in height for the Tour but does give a 112mm measurement, also the depth is 14.2mm. Weird.

Yeah, the problem is the metric measurements listed are the same, but not the US measurement?

I have a feeling the two phones are identical in size.

i think the bold 9700 case should fit the bold 9650 because in the RIM blackberry accessory store, the accessories listed for the bold 9650 are bold 9700 cases because the cases are pictured covering bold 9700

I'm not sure if it will fit. If it is a silicone case it might, but the dimensions seem to be a little off. Only time will tell, though. In the meantime I took a screencap of a comparison I did on the BB website.

I used to have the 9700. I do not think the buttons and ports are the same for the 9700 and 9630 and thus even if similar size the cases will not be interchangeable.

No, those cases will be different sizes and have different port opening locations..

Isn't the Bold 9650 the exact same size/dimesnions as the Tour 9630? I have a Bold 9700 and Tour 9630 and they are very different in size (and weight).

    That is incorrect.

I just went through and gave the dimensions and web links to back it up. They are on the first page.

To be fair, Moonlessnight's screen cap has different heights compared to Verizon's and RIM's website links I provided. I guess we will just have to take a wait and see approach.

Yes and I provided the correct metric dimensions right after it which are located in at least two places on the RIM website including in your link. Rim only provides the US dimensions for us dumbos from the USA that can't understand the metric system.

    112mm = 4.41 inches, NOT 4.43 inches

Not your fault, RIM's conversion is stated incorrectly for this phone.
Here is the link from their actual press release for the 9650 and the dimensions are only given in metric which is the standard for RIM since they are a Canadian based company:

I have a question along the same lines ....

I went to coveroo.com and got a couple backs / covers for my Tour. Does anyone know if those battery covers (or whatever they are called) will fit the new Bold 9650? I would love to update to the new "Tour" when it arrives, but I don't want to lose out on my investment. Any and all information would be appreciated!
