Is it possible for the bold to use animated wallpapers? If so, where would I go about finding or making them myself?

If you have OS 5 on your Bold you can either make them yourself with Theme Builder/ Theme Studio v5. I have also seen them around but don't remember where.

Nope, but rumor has it that TB6 will be released with support for all devices cabable of running BB6 by the end of the month.

Yes, I can't wait for that!!!
But I never saw any animated wallpapers on OS5 and I never have seen anything like that for OS6. But maybe after the themers get ahold of TB6??

In Theme Studio one of the components is Composer. With that you can create animated themes. I had one with a waving flag, but on the 8330 it took too much memory and made the device a little sluggish.
