I know most of us have never used NFC even though our new 9900/9930 comes with it. My question is if I use a case like OtterBox Defender for my 9900, will it effect the NFC capabilities since the case will cover the back side of the phone?

I think this is a good issues to be discussed and may be admins from crackberry can look in to this too? I think a case will effect the signal of NFC. Am I wrong? Please be wrong.

A case might weaken the NFC signal a bit, but my first guess is that it wouldn't render NFC unusable. The end result might simply be that you have to hold the phone closer to the target object when a case is being used.

It would have very little effect on the NFC signal. If it did it would also be affecting your ability to make and receive calls and data. The Otterbox is just plastic and while it would not help the RF capabilities, it would not kill it either.

    You are still freaking out!
