Anyone try the otterbox commuter case? AT&T is selling it for $39.99-is it worth it? I had one for my 8900 but it seemed too bulky and I ended up selling it.

It's an OtterBox, that right there is the definition of perfection in Blackberry protection.
Its not worth it. When I got my phone I asked if I can try on the otterbox. And after I tried it on the phone I find it to be too obstructive on using the phone. It makes it difficult to use the bottom action keys.

I bought one this morning, but I already took it back. Just too bulky for me, personaly.

I love the case, makes the phone more solid and it protects better than anything for sure. Bulkiness is there but no more bulky than the phone is without a case.

I got one for free today when I got my Torch. I have it on the phone now and not sure I like it - it's bulky. It does seem like a good case though. Sturdy and doesn't hamper usage for me.
I've never used cases before, so the added bulk is new to me and not my thing.
I bought one yesterday for my Torch. It makes the phone larger but I like the feel of it. The small piece that snaps onto the screen is cheap plastic and does get in the way of typing on the physical keyboard a little bit. But I've gotten used to it. The piece that covers the main part of the phone is very good, protects the phone well. Overall I like it. It gets the job done and protects the phone well. My only complaint is the piece that covers the edges of the display.
I like it. I will use it most the time, but in some situation where it's in a slacks pocket or sport coat pocket, the cover will come off. I noticed the slider is a lot more solid with the cover, too. Only thing I don't like is how slick the back is.
How about the Case Mate barely there shells? Anyone body get one?
thats way too much money for a case......................
yes, it is, but I will spend $20 in gas and more in time trying to find a good one that's cheaper. AT&T knows this.
why does AT&T have the commuter before the otterbox website??
A link to the Otterbox case? I checked AT&T and Otterbox site and can't find one.
I tried the otterbox case, the ag case, and case mate. I went with case mate, simple and seems like decent protection. The otter box was too clunky and you need that extra rubber piece skin under the case, I tried it without the rubber piece and it wouldnt stay in the the case. That ag case had like a track you had to slide on the main part of the case and when I tried this, it didnt feel smooth at all. The case mate was the only one that felt good to me. Didnt interfere with the sliding mechanism, although any of these cases you use will just make the top row of the physical keyboard that much more tighter to get to.
Where did you get the case mate?
Login to your AT&T account, go to accessories and pick Blackberry 9800.
All three cases were available at my At&t store. I was like 3rd person on a really unorganized 3 person line :D
Otter 39.99
Casemate and AG 34.99
I do get a discount but still got ripped off.
I returned my otterbox today- the "rim" of the top piece (on the bottom) hinders your touch of the bottom buttons, and the trackpad. The casemate was the same (but you could leave the "top" piece off and the back would protect the camera. For now, I'm going naked (with a screen protector and a small piece of screen protector over the camera lens to protect it from scratches) until I can find a slim case that doesn't obstruct the use of the trackpad and bottom buttons.
I picked one up at the AT&T store yesterday morning. It does asdd a little bit of bulk, but I don't mind that. I do, however, mind the fact that the top row of physical keyboard buttons is hindered the plastic snap on piece. For now I've kept the back piece on without using the front snap-on plastic; however, I ultimately believe I will be returning this case.

Bought the Pink Otterbox Defender and I like it but the top piece that clips on comes off a bit too easily.
Found this video on YouTube on the OtterBox case, thought I'd share in case anyone wants to see what the case looks like on the phone:
YouTube - OtterBox Commuter Case for the BlackBerry Torch 9800
The guy sounds sort of robotic though, as if he's reading off a script, lol
Wirefly has a case similar to the Otterbox but rubberized for $12.99..... comes in black, blue, red, pink, and clear
BlackBerry Torch 9800 Skins and Gels -Guaranteed Compatible! -Wirefly 59029
That's cool, I think I might get one. Does it cover the back as well or is it only for the front of the phone?
Two piece like Otterbox. If you search: BB9800RUBBK you should be able to find pics of it from other vendors showing different angles
Sweet, just ordered one, hurray for free shipping :D This actually looks similar to a black rubberized case I have for my curve (I had an Otterbox case for my curve, but ended up selling it because it was too bulky).
