Would you mind offering up insight on battery life and browser experience compared to the 9700?

no idea... i know im 3G now and its alot faster than my tour was! hope that answers the question.
Is your phone a pre-release phone and will RIM kill the PIN in a few months?

The battery on this unit is amazing compared to my tour i have. its almost double the life running the same apps and doing the same things on it. i don't personally own a 9700 so i cant compare them.. but i would think the battery life would be a bit better than the 9700 with the constant improving technology.

not sure to be honest... the phone is from RIM as it has no carrier tags on it. i don't see why they would kill it. and with telus you can purchase a new PIN for your bb for $10. never done it but not even sure how it all works. but when you login to your control panel there is the option to change pins.
i guess i will have to cross that bridge IF it ever happens.

If Phinx paid full price for the 9780 there's no way RIM will kill his PIN.

ya i paid full price. and they only block phone pin is they are listed as stolen by the carrier. this isn't as it was bought at a legit store... just sold early! =)

If it was a pre-release device that he bought from someone then they could. RIM apparently kills PINs on the pre-release devices after they come onto the market.

I didnt know you could buy a new PIN, I thought they were tied to the device and couldn't be changed

they only way they kill them is if the carrier or rim it self reports it as stolen. which is not the case as i bought it from a supplier that imports/exports cell phones.

Hey, How's the trackpad on the 9780 compared to the 9700? Does it see more raised than on the 9700, because in a review on online for the 9300, the reviewer said that the trackpad was raised a little higher on the 9300 than on the 8520. Also does the trackpad seem more durable on the 9780, than the 9700?

cant comment on the 9700 as i never had one as a primary phone but have played around of a few friends 9700. i don't remember off hand me thinking it was to high\low. its flush with the buttons on either side of it.... or maybe a 64th of an inch lower? =)

phinx404 .... ya gotta help me....do i get a 9700 now, or wait for the 9780....i have a very ****tty phone now, but get to return it within 7 days

if it were me personally and i could managed to get by for a few months more i would wait for the 9780.
yes both units will get the OS6.. But the os is like 200-230mb installed. well 9700 is 256mb. so they will have to trim some features to allow room for apps to run and install.
besides that its for 512mb ram, 512 on board space over the bolds 256/256 i believe. 9780 has a 5mpix camera... besides that they are very much the same unit. but seeing the price point will be pretty close between them and this unit is going to be the 9700 replacement. as the 8530 was the 8330 replacement. doesn't mean the 9700 is gone the day it comes out but will be phased out.

hope that's what you were looking for. if not ask some more questions and ill answer whatever i can!

How do yo use trackpad to make the homescreen show one roll of apps or two rolls of apps? I see on touchscreen you can drag the apps header up or down to adjust that setting, but how to do it using trackpad on non-touchscreen device like 9780???

    Thanks.

If you are on home screen ans say the tab is at ALL. you scroll till the bar is highlighted and you can click the touch pad to expand and see all. or just highlight the bar and you scroll left or right to the other tabs (All, Favorites, Media, Downloads, Frequent). or if you are anywhere on the screen and what to expand you just hit blackberry button and then its default first option on the pop up menu is Open Tray.

that what you were looking for Dwadwa?

Nah... I got that, but I am saying at homescreen, how to make it show two rolls of apps or none of the apps.

Say, for Torch, you can drag that header up and down to adjust the default # of rolls of apps you would like to show for each page. You can even hide all the apps and only leave the apps header (ALL, RECENT, and etc.) at the homescreen.
