no, he has checked and it doesn't look like it...

just helpin you out since you've had to answer so many questions multiple times, lol..

good looking on all the info by the way.. you've been way more than accommodating than I would have!

my initial anger that the 9700 is in no way RIM's flagship, has passed, and now I just have to decide if I want to upgrade to the 9780 or 9800 in february.... this should help quite a bit!

Ouch, Bolds sell for $499, why suddenly an extra $100 now? Oh well if it'll be for $599 on launch then I'm going to wait it off.

Rogers is selling the 9700 for $549 no contract. So it isnt that huge of an increase

    @phinx404.

We tought we were gonna get a more detailed video, one that showed the "Ritual Unboxing" come straight up... what happened?

also are you able to confirm that it is indeed a 5mp camera like jus show a pic with the diff resolutions..

    Thankx in advance

It is a 5MP camera the large resolution size is 2592 x 1944 multiply that by 5 and you get 5.2MP camera. Unfortunately the OS that came with any of the 9780 phones so far have limited capabilities in the camera section. As well there is a bug where sometimes the phone won't boot up but will display an error msg as shown in another thread. But the phone otherwise works fine. Browser is alot faster than 9700 as I had one. Phone is about the same weight too.

ya sorry i didn't do the unboxing.. honestly there is nothing new or different about how its packed.. you get all your normal manual stuff, charger, usb cable, ect... that and the fact i have it all setup and running it would be silly at this point to put back in the box and do again... and to answer the other question it does have 5mp camera with the res that 3vopheonix as stated. i don't seem to have any issues taking pics or vid. i don't use the trackpad to take pic or vid i use the return key to take them and it auto stabilizes and works great.

as i've posted in other threads
i recently went through rogers retentions and got a good plan...also convinced them to offer me a 9700 for $49.99/3 yr contract (it's noted in my account so i can go get a 9700 for that price whenever)....now my dilemma is: shall i go pick up a 9700 now or wait for 9800/9780 to be released on Rogers?

Yes i know the 9780 is available at some places around canada (GSMhookup in vancouver for example)...but i'd rather not pay the roughly $600 price that comes along with it. I don't mind being on contract either.

Thanks for the video and pictures!

np.... glad to have been able to help someone. in my opinion i would wait. whats another 1-2months? the upgrades in hardware and software at worth the wait... its not like waiting 6-12months+ its only oct-nov. thats my opinion tho. either way they will both be better than the current phone!

Any word on the new web browser speed compared to the 9700? Are the finally getting close to android speed?
    09-01-10 05:39 PM
  25. 3vopheonix's Avatar
The new web browser speed is faster than the 9700 but still fairly slow.

and Dejavuxx yes it does have a contextual menu it get's annoying bc it's a delay hold so if you hold your touchpad while clicking down it'll open up.
