I have a 2 month old 8130 that won't charge with wall charger, but works via usb on the computer or via car charger. So what could be the problem?

Should we take it to a vzw store and have them check the charging port?

Hah its your wall charger. Buy a new one on eBay for 5 dollars

Problem is that we have a case on it because the dog chewed up part of the phone, but would vzw give me a replacement phone for it?

It's not your phone, it's the charger. If it charges with the USB cable and with the car charger, you need a new wall charger.

I have the same problem. Me and my wife have the same phone and both of the wall chargers work on her phone but neither work on mine. But my USB plug still charges the phone, apparently they use different pins for charging and i need to take the phone in for repair.

You can take it in to verizon or you can bypass the whole usb slot and get a charging dock! It charges by making contact with the two metal pieces by the latch to your battery door. If it won't charge doing that then there's something definitely wrong with your phone, though it doesn't sound like it.
