so I'm looking for a device that I don't even know exists. However, I thought that this would be the best place to ask!

I am a college student with a macbook pro. I have many things connected to my usb port, so I bought a splitter. I have a wireless mouse, printer, blackberry dock, and an external hard drive. What I am looking for is a usb splitter that can connect to my laptop via bluetooth, so I can print/connect to my external hard drive/use my mouse without it physically being connected to my computer. Does anyone know if anything like this exists?!

im sorry, i dont really know what that means. are you saying that bluetooth runs much slower than usb so they wouldn't make that?

damn thanks. so how can i get to print wirelessly? my canon mp480 requires a bluetooth adapter that costs $50 to be able to print via bluetooth but i'd rather not spend $50 on something like that. any suggestions?

i don't know if it exists but what about a wifi usb hub? that would be more expensive than a $50 adapter though..

Not possible, but I do recall seeing a USB hub that connected wirelessly to a computer via a dongle...

i already own a wired usb hub, so if there was a product out there that could connect only one usb plug via bluetooth or wifi to my computer, i could plug in the hub that i already have into it and be able to plug several things into it. I would like to not have to have anything plugged into my computer at all to make this work. i dont know if that is possible or not, but thats what im looking for, if it exists.

also, that IO gear hub, although similar to what i need, only works for pc's according to amazon.com

thanks for all of your help. this looks like exactly what i want. my last question is do you know of any wireless usb device that only has one usb port? I already own a usb splitter, and I would tend to think that a wireless device would be cheaper if it only had one port as opposed to the belkin device that has four.

well I found a belkin device similar to the one in the link but not a high tech, yet still serves the same purpose. that costs $80. If I could get a one-port device that does the same thing for like $50, it would definitely be worth it because I'd just be saving $30 without having to lose anything since I could just plug my old 4-way usb port into that and have the same thing, no?

just a thought. so i guess the Belkin Wireless USB Hub F5U303 would be my best bet?

does it work well with macs?

or for $40 I can get one with a dongle:

Belkin F5U301 CableFree 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub with Dongle

do you think that dongle would be annoying? I take my laptop out of my office quite often, so to have to keep connecting and disconnecting it might be troublesome. However, would it be the same if it was dongle-less? Would I still need to "safely" remove devices like my external hard drive?

does the F5L009 have a dongle? Or does it just automatically connect to my computer via the internet?
