To add fire to all the posts slamming pocketcrap, I have not been able to sync my paperweight of a BB 8830 for over 3 months now using pocketcrap. i refuse to buy additional software to make something work that should "just work".

So, I submitted a requested through pocketcraps website 1.5 mnths ago. I was requested to "run a diagnostics report" by pocketcrap and send it to them. I did that day. Well 1.5 months later no response, so I sent it to them again. I have now received a msg from pocketcrap that says they "no longer offer support for BB devices. All support for pocketcrap and BB needs to go through RIM directly." That is unless I want to "put one of our [their] highly trained specialists on retainer for support".

So, now that they have abandoned their own product for BB does this mean that perhaps RIM has been able to extract their collective heads out of their backside long enough to appreciate the Mac users to created a DM for us?

For the time being, you're honestly better off paying for Missing Sync. The rumors are that RIM is developing DM for Mac, but it's not here yet. Nothing new.

How much is that? You already pay out the a$$ for a Mac as it is. Why should we be the only ones that has to pay for something that should be offered for free. I am with robslaw in saying that this program should just work for us (Mac users) and we shouldn't be expected to just have to pay for a BS program like that. This sucks!!

Missing Sync, for lack of a better word, is a crap-shoot. The same amount of post you read regarding how bad Pocket Mac is are the same amount, if not more, for Missing Sync.

The difference, PM is free and MS is $40. Neither program works consistently and the response you got regarding PM is a lot better than what you'd get from MS. Mark/Space, the makers of Missing Sync may never respond to you.

Yes! I am sorry for your problems, but I think this is great news and a sign that some sort of RIM supported sync is on its way.

I have my fingers crossed about a RIM DM for Mac, I hold no hope. I strongly believe that the only thing that will prompt RIM is a class-action lawsuit. The fact they they continue to sell AND promote that their product is compatible with Mac is fraud.

What bothers me the most is that RIM cant be that clueless to think that everyone is using windows and not just windows, but windows on your Mac.

I'm not downing those that do. Personally I refuse to put windows on my MacBook. I just think it's sad that the best they can offer Mac users is a 3rd party program that's worth very little to so many.

Putting Winblows on a Mac would be like putting a chevy engine in a Ferrari.

The interesting thing about your comment is that no matter how much some of us don't want anything to do with windows, in some form or fashion, you may find yourself still tied to it.

If I didn't already have a PC, I would have had to consider can I do everything I want to do on a Mac minus windows and the answer would have been NO.

I didn't have a need for a laptop. I just woke up one day after having had the iPhone and iPod Touch and decided, I want a MacBook.

I wish }{ close to dismantling my PC until I discovered that 3rd party software for syncing BB/Mac was hit or miss- more miss than hit.

You said it best! I got a Mac to get away from Wind-blows!! Why should someone force me to go back?

To me, it's also a sign that RIM is getting ready to release DM for Mac by WES (May 5-7 in Orlando), if not sooner.

After the release of DM for Mac, RIM will probably phase out PocketMac support... they will probably keep PocketMac around for a transition period for legacy BB addicts (pre-8000 series) and PPC users, as DM for Mac will probably only support Intel Macs and Leopard, a la Media Sync. (Not an issue for me... I use both.)

Still, think about it: if RIM was really in cahoots with the makers of PocketMac and not getting close to release of its own in-house product for Mac users, would RIM's own Media Sync for Mac disable PocketMac and/or Missing Sync?
