Yes, the Desktop Manager for MAC will update your OS on your Blackberry...infact when i clicked options it had several BB OS verison to choose from included 4.5.0.169!!!
This is interesting, because you usually have to install a .exe file on your PC before upgrading an OS. Obviously, a .exe file can't be installed on a Mac. So how is this working exactly?

I would recommend waiting on this one. Doesn't seem like anyone has had it go properly. I restored to my backup because none of calendar entries showed up, and none of my contacts could be edited (even though I got no errors on the sync).

You can't *execute* a .exe directly under OS X. However, it's just a container that happens to be self extracting. The contents can still be pulled out. Self executing Zip files, for example, which also happen to be ".exe" can easily be unzipped on any platform that can handle the archive format.

I downloaded this w/o any expectations; just to experiment with. It's great to see a mac dm "in the flesh" & what we can expect in the official release.

The interface is an interesting blend of mac aesthetics and interface but some elements of its pc heritage peeking through, like the first couple initialization boxes.

Buggy, about as I expected, sync problems mostly, but oh so full promise. I would not be playing around if I didn't have a full backup and a OS on a pc.

    We're almost there, mac fans!

I'm using Leopard and found it kept crashing on Theme settings... so I went with the selected data option and clicked everything except These settings and it backed up no problem.

Whenever I plug in my curve with the BB DTM, I get a box popping up on Snow Leopard saying, "A new network interface has been detected," and gives me options to set it up. What does all of this mean? Can I stop it from showing up every time I do a sync?

I have a few questions. Hopefully somebody out there with Missing Sync will try DM and be able to answer this...

Do I have to uninstall Missing Sync before installing DM? I assume the answer is yes because the only way to get Missing Sync to install was to uninstall PocketMac. Multiple reboots were involved, too. Will I need to delete the Missing Sync app from my phone before trying to sync with Desktop Manager? It doesn't affect sync with DM on a borrowed windows box, but I wonder if it's still true if I sync with the new OS X version of DM.

I deleted both on my Mac and my phone and everything is working fine. No problems yet. Running Snow Leopard as well.

Where are we with installing a leaked OS. I remember when they did the walk through they said there was no option for it. Anyone figure something out? Or working on figuring something out?

This is a colossal fricking disaster to me. I don't think my Mac is recognizing the darn thing because I keep getting the connections preference box I mentioned above. But, I guess it did recognize it enough to erase all of my calendar. Otherwise it just goes into sync mode and does absolutely nothing, and iSync isn't spinning or anything.

And (as many have mentioned) iTunes syncing is a no-go. It is telling me that my selected playlists exceed my available memory, which is even close to being true.

My advice to everyone is to stay away.

I am getting ticked. I know it is beta but this absurd. It won't even connect to my Mac. When I plug in my BB it pushes me into Network Connections where "RIM Composite Device" is found. Then when I try to force it to connect it asks me for a username and password. What the heck is that?

PS. It seemed to backup fine, but won't restore.

What problems are you having? I'm running Snow Leopard and it works great. The interface is nice and it does what it should, which is back up and sync. I had Missing Sync and it was very choppy. It worked when it wanted to.

Darn I can't get it to work. I'm running it on an iMac with Snow Leopard. Installed the software but get a dialog box that says "A sync error occurred. Please retry the sync." for every conduit.

Check out the weird messages from Console while trying to sync. It talks about Entourage.
