Software v4.6.0.499 (Multilanguage)
Package Version: 4.6.0.499
Consisting of:
* Applications: 4.6.0.291
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.183
* File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel499_PL4.0.0.183_A4.6.0.291.exe
* File size: 95MB
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
The process can take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the AppLoader says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

- Crucial_XtremeRetired ModeratorTechnically you're correct ninja, ppl pay attention to the application version. But... Lol, its using the radio code from a very very old OS. Not sure why AT&T started this, but I see other carriers are following and releasing hybrids for official releases.
So yeppers, when people speak of OS's they speak of the app version, but this one is a hybrid straight from a carrier. Still could work well though. I don't forsee it having some of the features the newer OS's do though.07-30-09 07:24 AMLike 0 - Technically you're correct ninja, ppl pay attention to the application version. But... - Uhh ... there is another thread here: http://forums.crackberry.com/f83/off...7/#post3208067
Perhaps the two threads could be merged, in the Italian sense with love and tenderness.07-30-09 11:29 AMLike 0 - Uhh ... there is another thread here: http://forums.crackberry.com/f83/off...7/#post3208067

So it doesn't matter too much as long as it works well for your/their/my device. Just have to load it up and see. The latest 900 builds with higher Platforms than 282 is 285 and 286. AT&T is currently testing 285.07-30-09 11:52 AMLike 0 - Does Anyone Know How To Actually Give An Updated Step By Step On Installing This, I Have A Blackberry Bold Unlocked, Trying To Upgrade To The .282 But I Did All The Steps, But Still Only .147 As An Option To Upgrade Or Downgrade???07-30-09 02:14 PMLike 0
- Well, it just depends. Its basically the carrier trying to provide something new for customers, without having to do too much work. For instance AT&T releasing the one they did. One was new Java files, but same Platform as .167. Then they released another with new Platform but old Java... Lol. Crazy eh?
