I downloaded both. I have an old 8830 WE that install software to mess with and it has worked OK so far, both of my 8830 & 8330 are from VZW. I do know REALESTATEPRO installed it on his 8830 WE and empower doesn't work, but I heard this is a common issue as well as some themes are not compatible. You do it at your own risk, in addition I didn't have to remove the vendor.xml file either

I should be getting my 8330 and I'll install 4.5 right away, it's not like I can lose any information. I'll let you know how it goes.

I dloaded the 8330 version. I installed it on my laptop. Desktop Manager didn't even see it was there.

I went so far as to Reboot, nothing....

I then uninstalled 4.3 and rebooted. DM still doesn't recognize version 4.5 is there.

The download I got didn't have the vendor.xls file.

I am at a loss. I have never NOT been able to install a new O.S. I wonder if it has anything to do with DM ver. 4.5??

I installed it today on my VZW 8330. Went on with no trouble at all. Restored my user data and all the themes I use. No problems there either.

DocsToGo works for .doc files but if I try to open a .ppt file it crashes the berry.

HTML email has an option to "enable" now in the messages options. We'll see.

Recently my screen dimmed while watching a youtube vid and when I pushed the trackball button to bring it back I got another crash.

But it always comes right back and it seems to be pretty snappy in terms of speed.

I downloaded 24hrs ago, did the battery pull and was all set. I notice the browser seems to be moving along faster. No glitches so far. Docs to Go is working great, also got the update (not the premium version, either). As of right now, I am loving the 4.5. Don't know why I took so long to do it.

I downloaded this on Sunday afternoon, took it off Tuesday afternoon and went back to 4.3. Had a few too many problems for me...programs I had before no longer worked, ie. Telus Navigator...90% of the videos I had didn't work anymore...it seemed like every morning I'd look at it and it would be 1xev instead of 1XEV. I really liked the html email and downloading videos and sound files with the email, BlackBerry Maps had a slight improvement, browser was better...all in all I'd recommend waiting for the official release...or try it out for a few days and go back.

The official release won't fix any of those problems as they are problems with the 3rd party apps not the OS.

Is the 1XEV thing a third party app? Did u read my whole post...I don't think I was talking about 3rd party apps except the Telus Navigator.

I think he was relating to the fact that the 3rd party apps you were running had issues. Once 4.5 officially becomes mainstream, some of these 3rd party apps may need some updating in order to run on 4.5 correctly. That's what he meant.

The issues you're having with BB Data connection dropping (1xev vs 1XEV) is a slight bug on this release. Sometimes happens.

I wasn't looking for answers as much as I was stating my experience with 4.5. Sorry ,I've been in a bad mood since the http://forums.crackberry.com/f35/pri...ontacts-48309/ thing earlier today.

Damn dude, sorry to hear that, however the guy did state that it was a "Free Trial". If you got charged to use it, that's a common bait and switch tactic. I'd ask for my money back and if they refuse, contest the payment with the banking company of the form of payment you used. I hate shady companies like that. You have even more ammunition if they don't have info on their site which states that it doesn't work as described on RIM devices.
